A grease is a thickened oil. It has lost it's ability to flow away from the lubrication point by gravity. In this video training we explain the general composition, the advantages and disadvantages of greases in comparison to oils and how the components of a grease work together in general lubrication. In a short overview we provide information about the special properties of different thickener types and the main selection criteria for lubricating greases. More detailed we handle the last item in the video training "bearing lubrication".
It contains the following videos:
Lubricating greases – Fundamentals
Video length: 16:11 Minutes
Target: To learn about the general composition of a lubricating grease in comparison to a lubricating oil and to become familiar with the advantages and disadvantages of greases over oils. Details are explained in the further chapters of this video training.Lubricating greases - How they work
Video length: 12:22 Minutes
Target: To learn about the general way greases lubricate in comparison to lubricating oils and how the base oil, the thickener and the additives work together. Details about specific properties of the different thickener systems we explain in the further chapters of this video.Lubricating greases –Thickener
Video length: 11:37 Minutes
Target: To learn about the different properties the thickener provides to the grease.Lubricating greases -Key properties
Video length: 31:39 Minutes
Target: One of our first modules explained the key properties of oils. Here you learn about the key properties of greases and their meaning.Standardised grease types
Video length: 10:47 Minutes
Target: To learn about the standardisation of grease types and how to work with this in practice. To know about the limitations of very common DIN or ISO standards to avoid mistakes in grease selection or comparison by standard codes.Lubricating greases - Re-greasing
Video length: 10:32 Minutes
Target: To learn about the most important criteria for re-greasing, the calculation of the re-greasing volume and interval in grease lubrication of bearings.Compatibility of lubricating greases
Video length: 11:17 Minutes
Target: To learn about the causes and consequences of grease incompatibility and the general criteria to assess or check the compatibility.
